Cosmetic nose surgery (Rhinoplasty)

The nose plays a decisive role in a person’s face. If it is too big or too thick, too long or crooked, it can severely diminish attractiveness. Modern cosmetic surgery can remedy almost all of these problems. Even nostrils that are too large, upturned noses or hooked noses can be surgically corrected. The goal of such surgery is to adapt the shape of the nose to the facial proportions. The shape and size of the nose should harmonize with the other facial features following surgery.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical technique to correct the nose and to return it to its natural form if it has been damaged, or to correct an inherited deformation. The treatment can be for purely aesthetic reasons or for medical reasons to restore or remedy breathing problems.

The bride of the nose, nasal wings, nostrils and the shape and size of a nose can be corrected.  A function deficit can be corrected at the same time. Indeed, a nose should not only look good but must allow effortless breathing. For this reason, nose corrections are very individual and technically challenging procedures that must be carefully planned and carried out by experienced doctors. Some of the surgical procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis, generally however, an overnight hospital stay is required.

A surgical nose correction can be necessary, for example, to correct nostrils that are too narrow, a deviated septum or polyps which prevent effortless breathing.

The operation
Our gentle operation techniques ensure that our patients experience the highest level of comfort. We use radio frequency surgery (the most precise, state-of-the-art technique) at the BEAUTY KLINIK Hamburg and our anesthesia techniques are the safest and most modern available.

We perform cosmetic and medically indicated nose corrections that are nearly pain free on an outpatient basis. In contrast to conventional treatment methods, we don’t use nasal tamponades whose removal is accompanied by severe pain and bleeding. Instead, we use silicone foils that can remain within the nose for two to three weeks without disrupting breathing.

Post-operative care
It is recommended that patients get up soon after a nose correction to avoid blood clots. For the first three post-op days, a patient should spend most of his or her time with an elevated upper body and get a lot of rest.

Minor nose bleeds following the operation are normal. To avoid disturbing the healing process, nose blowing should be avoided. Strenuous activity such as sports must be avoided for 3 weeks. Thereafter you can resume less intensive activities. Strenuous activities should not be resumed until 8 weeks after surgery. Eyeglasses should not be worn for 3 weeks so that the operation result can heal without a pressure burden.
